Signer Terms
You received a document to sign. These are the rules for using OurEsign to sign it.
Version 2026-08-21
1. Who we are
OurEsign is the service that delivered your document. We are the software, not the sender.
The document came from a business that uses us — a car dealership, a childcare center, or another company you are dealing with. They wrote it, they chose to send it to you, and any questions about what it says are for them.
2. What these terms cover
These terms cover your use of OurEsign: viewing the document, verifying it is you, signing or declining, and the record we keep of what you did.
What these terms are not
These terms are not the document you were sent, and agreeing to them is not agreeing to it. You can accept these terms, read the document, and still decide not to sign.
They also are not an agreement with the business that sent it. Whatever you agree with them is in their document, not here.
3. Checking that it is you
Before you can open the document, we send a code to your email or phone and ask you to type it in. This is how we check that the document reached the right person.
Do not share that code, and do not let someone else sign for you. If you sign, you should be the person named on the document.
If the document is not for you, or you were not expecting it, do not sign it. Contact the business that sent it. If you cannot reach them, contact us and we will let them know.
4. What we record
While you use OurEsign, we record what happened so there is a reliable record of it later. That includes:
- the email address or phone number the document was sent to;
- when you opened it, and when you signed or declined;
- that you entered the code we sent you; and
- the internet address and device details we can see while you are signing.
This record goes into a certificate attached to the finished document. You get a copy of it. It exists to protect everyone who signed — if anyone later questions whether the signing happened, the certificate is what shows that it did.
We keep this record even after the business that sent you the document stops using us. We do that so the document can still be relied on years from now. We do not keep what the document said.
5. Signing, or not
Read the document before you sign. If you do not understand something in it, ask the business that sent it, and do not sign until you are satisfied.
You can decline. Declining is a normal choice, we will record it, and we will tell the sender. We will not pressure you to sign on anyone's behalf.
Once you sign and everyone else who needs to sign has signed, the document is complete and cannot be changed. If something in it turns out to be wrong, the fix is a new document — ask the sender.
6. Keep your copy
Download it now
When the document is finished, download it and the certificate and keep them somewhere you can find them. Do not rely on us to hold your copy.
The document belongs to the business that sent it, and it is stored in their account. If they close that account, or the link expires, your own copy may be the only one you have. If you lose it, ask them first.
7. Your information
The personal information in the document belongs to the business that sent it. They decided what to ask you for and why. We handle it on their instructions, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI.
If you want to know what a business holds about you, or want it corrected or deleted, ask them — it is their record, not ours. If you contact us, we will normally point you to them and let them know you asked. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold in our own right.
8. Using this fairly
Do not sign in someone else's name without their permission. Do not try to alter a document, get into an account that is not yours, or interfere with the service. Do not use OurEsign to do anything illegal.
9. What we are responsible for
We provide the software that delivered the document and recorded the signing. We are careful with it, but we do not promise it is perfect or always available.
Limits
We are not part of your agreement with the business that sent you the document. If you have a dispute about what it says, what you were promised, or what you owe, that is between you and them.
Because you do not pay us anything, the most we can owe you for anything connected with your use of OurEsign is $100. This does not limit anything that cannot be limited by law, and it does not apply to fraud or deliberate wrongdoing on our part.
10. If something goes wrong
If the document will not open, the code does not arrive, or something looks wrong, email support@ouresign.com and tell us what happened.
If you think a document was sent to you fraudulently, or someone signed in your name, tell us straight away at support@ouresign.com with "Fraud" in the subject line. We will look into it and contact the business that sent it.
11. Changes
We update these terms from time to time. The version is at the top of this page. If they change in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign something.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Nothing here takes away a right you have under the law where you live that cannot be given up.
